Munster Senior Schools Competition

Hi everyone,
Below are the details for the Munster Senior Schools competition which will take place on Sunday November 12th in UL.
Please note, the process for entry has changed this year. Entries for swimmers who are members of a club and have a Swim Ireland ID will be done via the club for individual races and either via the school or by 1 representative from the relay team for relays.
If your swimmer would like to take part in individual events in the competition I would appreciate it if you could confirm via ClubZap by Wednesday October 11th. I will also need you to send me an email with the events your swimmer would like to enter and the name of the school your swimmer attends by Wednesday October 11th. The school will need to be included as part of the entry.

Munster Senior Schools Championships 2023/2024
Meet Information

| Start time | Warm up 9.00am. Competition commences 10am (times subject to change depending on entry ) |
| Venue | UL Arena, University of Limerick.
The gala will be run in Short Course (25m) Format at the UL Arena, University of Limerick. This gala will be a fully licenced Swim Munster Gala and all participants will be covered by Swim Ireland Insurance. |
| Events | 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle (Groups 5,6 & 7)
200m Individual Medley (Groups 5,6 & 7) 400m Freestyle (Open by invitation only based on 10 fastest entries for each gender with 2 Reserves) – swimmers will be notified as soon as all entries are processed.
A swimmer can swim a maximum of 2 individual events plus the 400m Free if selected.
Relays – 4 x 50m FTR and 4 x 50m MTR (Junior, Inter and Senior)
Swimmers may swim up in an older age group but at least one team member must be in the correct age group. A swimmer can swim a maximum of 2 relays – these do not need to be in the same age group.
The running of finals and the 400m is dependant upon available time. If number of entries is excessive, it may be necessary to go to Heat Declared Winners. This will be communicated in advance of the meet. |

| Entries | Swimmers who are current Swim Ireland Club members should enter through their club gala secretary. Gala secretaries are asked to send the club Hytec file along with a spreadsheet which details the swimmer’s school. Payment will be collected from clubs for these swimmers.
School swimmers who are not current Swim Ireland club members can enter using the Jotform link, entering the necessary details and payment via stripe link.

| Awards | Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each Age Group |
| Timing | Electronic timing and Hytek Meet manager software will be used |
| Withdrawals | Withdrawals should be made by email by 12 mid-day on Friday 10th November 2023 to munsterentries@swimireland.ie – no refunds will be given for withdrawals.

| Officials | To ensure the smooth running of the event each school MUST provide officials for each session to help with timekeeping / turn judge – where a school has more than 10 swimmers that school may be asked to provide more officials.
Swim Munster will provide the key officials for each session. Swim Munster will circulate an Officials Roster during the week before the Championships. |
| Facilities | Parking is available at the venue. A pool will be available for warm up and cool down throughout the event. |

| Interprovincial Selection | Irish Schools Interprovincial Championships – 24th March 2024
The Munster interprovincial team will comprise two swimmers in each of the events. Events at Inter-provincials are similar to Munster Schools. The winner of the Munster Schools event will be selected in that event.
The second position on the Team will be awarded to the person who is the highest ranked swimmer, in that event, at the time of selection and must have competed at the Munster Senior Schools. Ranking will be done post the Irish Winter Championships. A swimmer can only be selected in 2 events (excluding relays and 400m). |
| Data Protection | Munster Region, Swim Ireland uses a computer database to manage entries and results of swimming meets, and also to manage competition records of swimmers. By submitting and accepting entries to the meet consent is hereby given, as required by the Data Protection Act, to the holding of personal information on Munster Region computer databases. Personal data held for each swimmer will be name, date of birth, club, Swim Ireland registration number, entry times, achieved times and DQ codes. Certain elements of this data (name, club, age, times, achieved times) may be made public prior to, during or after the meet (e.g. programmes, results, Meet Mobile, etc). |
