Swansea Programme

Long Read Version:

Plenty of club news this week.

The picture accompanying this article is of Wales National Pool in Swansea which is where a small group of club members and their parents are travelling this weekend. The group represents about half of our swimmers who qualified and we wish them the best of luck for what is for most of them their very first international competition. The swimmers travelling are Ailbhe, Aino, Aoife, Nicole, Siofra and Danny. Zac is also travelling to the same gala but as part of the Munster Squad. Liam will be travelling as club coach. The trip is being organised and paid for by the parents of those travelling and is a testing of the waters for future years where we may travel to Swansea as a larger club group. Here is a link to the Swansea weekend programme.

There will be plenty of action for those not going overseas too. The first half of the Aspiring Champions gala will take place in UL on the 11th of March. The second half will be on the 25th of March. Events 1 to 16 will be on the 11th and 17 onwards will be on the 25th of March. Here's a list of those swimming at this Aspiring Champions gala

Also on the 11th we'll have a group going to the Future Challenger gala in Tralee. Here is the Future Challenger entry list. Please note the fee info is incorrect on this sheet. Each event has a €6 entry fee. We wish everyone the best of luck in the galas and know that you will represent yourselves and your club with pride. You have all been training hard and it will show in the pool.

Daryl has been sending out invoices for gala fees for these events and there are also some outstanding fees from earlier galas that we hope you will pay at your nearest convenience.

We had a great turnout of both swimmers and their parents at last weekend's Master's gala so thanks to everyone who got involved. I don't have a final figure yet but I think it should be an increase on the €500 which we raised for the club this time last year. Money from fundraising is important to meet expenses which occur throughout the year helping us to keep the fees as low as we can.

Finally well done to Zac and Aoife who represented the club in Bangor at the Mc Cullough International. It's fantastic to have such representatives at this elite level. Their results speak for themselves.

I'll add more details of the galas to this page as they become available.

As always for general inquiries to the club you can email Valerie the club secretary celticwavessc@gmail.com.

For specific coaching inquiries you can talk to the coaches after a training session. For inquiries about gala entries you can contact Sinead (juniors) or Colette (seniors). For fee inquiries please contact treasurer Daryl. For child welfare inquiries you can contact our club children's officer Liz celticwavescco@gmail.com. The CCO operates independently of the committee.

Best wishes

Eoin
