Great to see Celtic Waves swimmers back in UL pool last weekend at the gala. So many great swims and so many PBs and also a number of swimmers tackling new events and longer distances. You could really get a sense of how the club has grown with multiple swimmers across various events and even some heats with two or three Celtic Waves swimmers in them. We were also able to field two strong teams in many of the relays.
This was the first gala of the year for our senior swimmers and provides a good base for them to build off over the season. We are still less than a month back at training so its amazing to see so many good times being posted. Aside from all the individual development we are also developing as a team. It was heartening to see swimmers encouraging each other and taking pride in the results of the other team members. They also seemed to be having great craic on the deck and I even saw some of them putting their phones away for a while.
None of this would be possible without the various parents and guardians who volunteered so thanks to everyone who stepped up as team manager or official over the two days. And special thanks to Liam who was there for the whole two days from the first relay to the last 1500 with tailored advice and encouragement for every single swimmer in every single race.
